'Tis ages since I posted something, so this one is for the Illustration Friday topic of "scattered'.
We all know a beam of light can be broken into its component colours by a prism, however Floyd was not too impressed with the reaction of his new triangular glasses , wasn't exactly over the moon about it, one could say!

Our studio group, Ultimo Project, has a show coming up with The Sydney Fringe Festival, so I decided to paint a version of the digital image done the other day. I found it a challenge, the painting being fairly difficult to achieve a similarity to the original. It has really to go its own way, and the dry brushing worked well.
They are both about A4 in size

I just added one more, with some extra details, in the show it will go

A strange anomaly existed in the cat's backyard, the gravitational field of the earth had become a little distorted, imperfect maybe, causing problems for the 4 legged creatures.

This piece was inspired out of my bushwalk in Kakadu National Park, where I walked for 14 days backpacking in the wild, with a group, some of them keen birdwatchers. The spangled drongo does indeed exist, and many of our sightings of this one, as well as others, was where the bird was!

This one is from a hand drawn sketch, then using Illustrator and Photoshop. I am painting another one on board using acrylics, but it is a bit slower to do.

I can't post for a bit, as I will be away for a walking trip to Kakadu National Park , in the Northern Territory of Australia, the next 2 weeks, should travel between 100 to 200 km, a nice adventure.

I did a doodle of man in pram, probably after seeing a child in a pram , using binoculars reversed, which will be another illo at some point.

Traffic light control box

The before and after shots of a control box, which I painted as part of our local council's
"beat graffiti" strategy and competition, which is judged next Thursday. They make quite a difference to the streetscape, usually remaining untagged, except by chewing gum, in this case.
The dogs and moons go well , and I painted 10 small works just for fun, like this image

They are just black/white, using Photoshop's threshold filter, done with ink, sponges, and whatever makes a mark.

Pig Tree

This is a rare phenomenon, the fruiting of the Port Jackson pigtree. It grows around Sydney Harbour, and is an easy bonsai to cultivate, yet very difficult to get to flower and then fruit.
Just in time to be cured for the Xmas dinner.

I had a go at painting a large version of the pig on the motor bike, , but it failed!! oh well, the scale of it did not work, so it's back to try again, a bit smaller this time, 450mm x 550 mm, instead of 650 x 850mm, and I will use a tighter cropping, as shown here. we shall see

This is for the IF topic of "burning". Could be a bit of flying as well as "burnin up the highway".
I used photoshop cs5 to start with, some nice new brushes, and the dancing broom that shows what some brush positions are. Gimmicky. I mainly use Corel Painter, it's a snack to use and easy to have all your tools gathered nicely together, but for image manipulation, can't beat the old PS!

I can thank my 4 y.o. granddaughter for the roofs. The other night we were having fun on the etch-a-sketch drawing pigs, and she added houses with bent roofs, and very strange pigs.
I want to paint some works for the kids' rooms, so I will work on more little ones featuring pigs and see what pokes it's head out, hopefully not a pig in a poke

A walking trip in Spain for a honeymoon? Twas pretty good, sharing with 5- 50 people in dormitories!!
Yet we weren't the only ones, and we wondered how the young Italian honeymooners managed.

The pilgrim, spurred on by the "carrot" of food and wine, plods to the bitter end in Santiago de Compostella, signs in , and gets a special pass for speedy entry to the heavenly realms.

the naked bushwalker

This drawing came from an encounter with a naked bushwalker. In the Royal National Park, south of Sydney, he, wandering about with a just a hat ,backpack and boots, came across my partner and myself just as we were getting dressed after a swim, ! Very prickly in that park.
