over the moon

In response to the IF topic of "vocal".
There was dingo in the last post, and it popped in on this drawing with a howl to the heavens, causing the extraordinary jump of a roo over the moon, a sight sometimes seen in the Australian outback after a late night around the camp fire.

pouch return

For the Illustration Friday topic of "return",
here is a rather large joey trying to get back into the pouch, I am not sure he will fit anymore. They are kicked out at about 8 months old, for the red kangaroos.
I have a children's book to do about red kangaroos so I guess there will be a few hopping themes coming up.

Some interesting distortions using the puppet warp in Photoshop, never even knew it was there.

floyd's new glasses

'Tis ages since I posted something, so this one is for the Illustration Friday topic of "scattered'.
We all know a beam of light can be broken into its component colours by a prism, however Floyd was not too impressed with the reaction of his new triangular glasses , wasn't exactly over the moon about it, one could say!

My response to IF topic of "disguise". I was thinking about masks and this morning I walked past some junk and found a book on dogs, so I chopped a few piccies out, with the idea of just a simple collage.

magic hats

Our studio group, Ultimo Project, has a show coming up with The Sydney Fringe Festival, so I decided to paint a version of the digital image done the other day. I found it a challenge, the painting being fairly difficult to achieve a similarity to the original. It has really to go its own way, and the dry brushing worked well.
They are both about A4 in size

I just added one more, with some extra details, in the show it will go

A strange anomaly existed in the cat's backyard, the gravitational field of the earth had become a little distorted, imperfect maybe, causing problems for the 4 legged creatures.

the drongo

This piece was inspired out of my bushwalk in Kakadu National Park, where I walked for 14 days backpacking in the wild, with a group, some of them keen birdwatchers. The spangled drongo does indeed exist, and many of our sightings of this one, as well as others, was where the bird was!
