dusty pig

A quick one done for IF, after spending hours trying to get another design to work, and not being happy with it.

The old pig chicken game.

tattooed tales images

These are for a book a friend and I are collaborating on. We will print a few copies in the not too distant future.
They are just black/white, using Photoshop's threshold filter, done with ink, sponges, and whatever makes a mark.

mind or eye

for the Illustration Friday topic of "deja vu". 'Tis a tricky topic, I kept wondering how to show something seen before, so this morning just started something in Painter, drew from some weird sketch I had done before, and , just before my morning coffee, the words mind or eye came to mind, hah!

Pig Tree

This is a rare phenomenon, the fruiting of the Port Jackson pigtree. It grows around Sydney Harbour, and is an easy bonsai to cultivate, yet very difficult to get to flower and then fruit.
Just in time to be cured for the Xmas dinner.

pigosaur

Done for the Illustration Friday topic of "prehistoric". I think this was an animal that had a hard time, with a big head and having to rest fairly often. A failed forerunner of the domestic pig.

new hog

I had a go at painting a large version of the pig on the motor bike, , but it failed!! oh well, the scale of it did not work, so it's back to try again, a bit smaller this time, 450mm x 550 mm, instead of 650 x 850mm, and I will use a tighter cropping, as shown here. we shall see

heading for revised website

hog on hog

This is for the IF topic of "burning". Could be a bit of flying as well as "burnin up the highway".
I used photoshop cs5 to start with, some nice new brushes, and the dancing broom that shows what some brush positions are. Gimmicky. I mainly use Corel Painter, it's a snack to use and easy to have all your tools gathered nicely together, but for image manipulation, can't beat the old PS!

modes of transport

I did 2 painted versions of the pig on penny farthing, and they fitted this weeks Illustration Friday topic of transportation.
The other one is the beginning of an idea for making mobile letters or vehicles from letters.

piggycycle

Can't get away from these pesky pigs, besides, they seem to fit many ideas.
For the Illustration Friday topic of "old-fashioned"

immovable

For the Illustration Friday topic of immovable, I doodled in Corel Painter with an oily blender and dry ink pen just making lines and shapes, and this fellow arrived. I guess it got pushed up the hill and now is stuck. oh well

passing porker

I can thank my 4 y.o. granddaughter for the roofs. The other night we were having fun on the etch-a-sketch drawing pigs, and she added houses with bent roofs, and very strange pigs.
I want to paint some works for the kids' rooms, so I will work on more little ones featuring pigs and see what pokes it's head out, hopefully not a pig in a poke

star gazing

For once, I had an image that fits the topic for this week's Illustration Friday topic of "star gazing". It is pastel/digital, for a story about counting stars, and then having to start over because she had forgotten how many.

outside looking in

This is the result for IF topic of "caged". I tried for a bit to do something John Cage, the composer, along the line that if you listened to his compositions, especially 4'33", then you could be said to be "caged"!!
But it didn't work in the time available, so I put the egg in the cage

artificial

thought I'd try another piggy theme for Illustration Friday.

pear men

I was playing around with converting images to black and white, using the threshold filter in photoshop, and these pearmen came from photos of cut pears, that look kind of sad.

double trouble

"double" from IF , thought of the double bass, and have been sketching pigs for fun , so...
